GEISTFELD, Ronald E. died peacefully at home on May 16, 2018, at the age of 84. He was born in St. James, MN to Victor E. and Viola O. (Becker) who preceded him in death. Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Annette (Swenson); children, Sharilyn (Bob Moore), Mark (Janette Sadik-Khan), Steven (Tara Friend), Ann Clasby (Mike), Leah, Erik Buland (MaryJane); grandchildren, Madeleine, Max, Hudson, Dylan, Sophia, Mara and Emma and siblings, Ernest (Ione), Valeria Kruse, Loren (Carol) and James (Barbara). A graduate of Bethany College Junior College, Ron went on to earn his B.S. and D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota. His dental career began with service in the Army as Captain of the Dental Corps. In 1959, he made Northfield, MN his home where he started his family and dental practice while being an active community member. In 1969, Ron joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota Dental School and was a champion of small group learning and informed consent. In 1976, Ron married the love of his life, Annette. Among his many accomplishments, Ron served as the Chair of Operative Dentistry, was a member and the Operative Dentistry Chair of the American Dental Association, and Chair of the Minnesota Dental Association. Ron and Annette retired in 1997 and moved to Tucson, AZ. He then began a consulting career with MetLife Dental, which allowed him and Annette to explore the country. They enjoyed many adventures together and traveled the world. Ron had a love of knowledge, an open-minded approach to learning and life, and would adapt his thoughts and behavior to new ideas. He was known for his intelligence, integrity, keen and broad interest in the world at large, and sense of justice. He was a kind and generous soul and will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched. A Service will be held on Saturday, June, 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Oro Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Youth On Their Own (YOTO), 1660 N. Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85712. Arrangements are under the care of ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
