HOCK, Richard "John" 91, passed away on October 31, 2018. Born May 9, 1927 in Nogales, AZ to RJ and Marie Hock. He is survived by wife, Marla; children, Alec (Greg) and Alan (Gail) Hock; sister, Peggy Ingraham; stepsons, Jim and Bob Shaw; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Raised in Williams, AZ, where his father owned Hock Motor Ford Dealership and was mayor of Williams. As a teenager, John worked summers as a ranch hand and wildfire fighter. He had a love of horses all his life. After graduating from Williams High School, he went directly into the US Army. After discharge as a S/SGT, he returned to AZ and enrolled at the UofA. He graduated in three years with a degree in Civil Engineering. While attending the UofA, John earned a ROTC commission in the US Air Force as 2nd LT. He moved to Phoenix, where he worked for Standard Oil, and then moved to North Dakota, where he worked on construction of the Garrison Dam hydroelectric power system. When the job was complete, he moved back to Tucson and worked for Grand Central Aircraft Co., refurbishing B-29 and B-47 bombers. He went to work for Hughes Aircraft Co. in 1954. He was with Hughes for 33 years and retired as a Manufacturing Manager. After retirement, he started a residential repair and maintenance business. John was fortunate to have traveled to all 50 states and world-wide both for work and pleasure. He loved his family, and was in turn loved by them. John was a kind and gentle man, much respected and admired by all. One highlight of his later years was going on the Honor Flight for veterans to Washington, D.C. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Donations may be made, in his name, to the Alzheimer's Association, Honor Flight of So. AZ, or the charity of your choice.
