Antonio Bautista

Antonio Bautista Tony Bautista passed away on March 28, 2017 at the age of 94. He was born on January 16, 1923 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Agustin Villa Bautista and Domitila Peña. When he was a year-and-a-half he came to the United States with his mother to join his father who worked with Southern Pacific Railroad in Reedsport, Oregon in hopes of a better life. He graduated from Union Reedsport High School then attended the University of Oregon until he was drafted into the service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served on the U.S.S Cleveland of which he was very proud. He received his naturalization on April 4, 1947. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years until he retired in 1980. He married Launa “Suzy” Houston in 1956. Together they had four children: Barbara, Rick, Ron, and Denise. They were married for 26 years until her passing in 1982. In 1988 he married Eugenia Lawson. Together they traveled all over the world and enjoyed their time together. Tony was a big Oregon duck fan, enjoyed spending time with his family, and always enjoyed good food! He was well liked by all that knew him and left a lasting impression. He is survived by his wife, Eugenia; 2 daughters, Barbara and Denise; a son, Ron: 1 step-daughter, Tanya: and step-son, Phil; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Suzy; his parents; brother Joe; sister Carmen; and son, Rick. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eugene.
