SANDRA KAY (Bean) SCHEFFEL Sandra ("Sandy") Scheffel, age 77, of Tucson, Arizona died on May 14, 2017 at the Cornerstone Hospital in Tucson. She was born August 13, 1939, to Henry W. and Sara E. (Schroeter) Bean in Hammond, Indiana. She graduated from Hammond High School in 1957 and then attended Presbyterian St. Lukes school of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois where she received her Registered Professional Nurse certification in 1960, spending her working career as an orthopedic surgical nurse. On March 26, 1960 she married Louis Kenneth Scheffel ("Ken") of Berwyn, Illinois. They first lived in Berwyn where they had 3 children; Steve, Scott and Randy. In 1966 they moved to Westchester, Illinois. They both retired in 1988 and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1989. During the working years they spent most of their vacations in Northern Wisconsin. Once they retired they lived there throughout the summer months. Sandy enjoyed genealogy, antiquing, reading, sewing and listening to talk radio. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. She was a fabulous host and cook. Survivors include her husband Ken, children: Steve (Kim), Scott (Linda), Randy (Michelle), grandchildren: Andrew (Michelle), Kera, Kyle, Zach, Tom, siblings: brother:Bill (Winnie) Bean, sister:Bette (Gary) Stiers and many dear friends. An interment service will be held at 2:00 Pm Friday May 26, 2017 at the Desert Vista Cemetery 2151 South Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson Arizona. Additionally, a memorial service will be held at the Westchester Community Church (1840 Westchester Blvd. Westchester, IL 60154) at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Lung Association.
