Arnulfo Cadena Mares, 93, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was born on September 5, 1929, to Jose Gregorio and Epiphania (Cadena) Mares in Miami, AZ. Arnulfo (aka; Dad, Al, Uncle Arnold, Tender, Nino, Pops, Grandpapa, Noofy, Gunny,) was raised in South Tucson, where life had its challenges with 10 siblings. But their love for each other, music, and singing provided all the wealth they needed to persevere and make good lives for themselves. He was a proud graduate of Tucson High School (1949). Soon after his high school graduation, a young man of 19 years, joined the United States Marine Corps. In 1950, along with all his friends for E’ (Easy) Company, 13th Battalion, he proudly served and fought in the Korean War. Post Korean War, He continued to serve his country as a Marine Corps Reservist until the 1970’s. He finished his Military career with the rank of Master Gunnery Sargent, Arnulfo Cadena Mares. He is survived by his loving families; Brother, Jose Leo Rodriguez; Wife, Analilia Maytorena Mares; Daughters, Blanca Estela Mares, Lourdes Monge, Judy Anne Mares Redmond (Mike); Maria Elsa Mares Perez (Mike); Grandchildren: Anali Gomez, Manuel Monge, Marsella Monge, Manuel M Grijalva (Barbara), Steven M Perez (Kyla), and Marcus E Perez; Great Grands, Jose Perez, Therese Perez, Michael Perez, Joey Perez, Jesus Grijalva, Carmen Grijalva. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frank Rosas, Nicolas Mares, Rudy Mares, Manuel Mares, Lorenzo Mares, Mario Rodriguez, Gasper Eldridge, Norma Nigh, Lydia Felix, and Carmen G Mares (wife). Mass will be offered on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 10 AM, St. Johns Church on Ajo Road. Memorials and Flowers can be sent to St. Johns by 9:30 AM the day of the mass. Online condolences can be given at adairfuneralhomes.com. Military Honors will be done on Monday, October 24th at 12 (noon) at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery – Marana (15950 N Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653).
