Mary Elizabeth Cantrall

TUCSON, AZ - Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Cantrall passed away on December 16, 2022, in Tucson, Az. Mary was born in Springfield, IL to Oakley Ellsworh and Alice Meta (Leadill) Miller. Mary graduated from Palmyra High School in1948. She married Leo John Cantrall on March 12, 1966. Mary worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company, in Springfield, IL for 20+ years before moving to Tucson with her husband in 1977. There she worked as a CNA and at several secretarial jobs before being hired by the University of Arizona Press. She retired in 1994. She continued to work as a CNA for several years after that. Mary loved animals and had dogs and cats with her all her life. She often took in stray dogs and cats and gave them a good home. Mary was preceded in death by both parents, brothers James Ellsworth Miller (Virginia) and Edward Miller (Ellen) and a niece, Janet Marie (Miller) Savorgino (Edward). Mary is survived by a stepdaughter, Pam Johnston (Robert), a stepson, Lee Cantrall, a nephew, William Kaye Miller (Susan) and a cousin, Dale White. Per Mary’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Mary will be cremated by Adair Funeral Home in Tucson and returned to Springfield, Il. for burial in the Camp Butler National Cemetery with her husband at a later date.
