Derek Thomas Millman
November 17th, 1992 - March 29th, 2023
In loving memory and honor of Derek Thomas Millman, age 30, passed away unexpectedly on March 29th. Derek was born on November 17th, 1992, in Misawa, Japan to parents Linda and George. Derek is survived by his wife Kirsten and 2 daughters Audrey and Chandler, his father George, his brother Josh, his mother Linda and stepfather John, and his grandfather Chuck. He is predeceased by his grandmother Belle, his grandfather George Sr. and grandmother Carolyn. After Derek graduated from Cienega High School in 2011, he enlisted in the Arizona Air National Guard where he excelled in Financial Management and Budget Analysis, recognized by the National Guard Bureau as a Subject Matter Expert, and hand-picked to train other members. Aside from managing finances, certifying orders and documents, and managing programs, Derek was known for his ability to lead, mentor, and selfless work ethic. Derek impacted so many lives on base. Derek always went the extra mile to make sure someone was taken care of. In 2009, Derek met his wife, Kirsten. The love that they had for each other was like no other. They loved traveling together where they would always try new eateries and enjoy each other’s company. They have two beautiful daughters, Chandler, and Audrey. Derek loved taking walks around the neighborhood and to the park with his girls. He loved spending those special moments having dance parties in the living room before bedtime, reading their favorite books and getting all the cuddles he could. Derek had a passion for sports. He loved Sunday football watching his Chargers play and grilling on his black stone. You’d always find him with a drink in hand when his Uof A men’s basketball team were playing. Derek also enjoyed camping with the most amazing group of friends. The mountains, lake and ocean were always his zen places. Services are being held for Derek on April 8th from 1-3 pm at Adair Funeral Home. 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. Come pay your respects to family from 1-2 pm proceeded by military honors beginning at 2 pm. Following the service, we would like to invite everyone to join us at Sycamore Park (7485 E. Sycamore Park Blvd) at 4 pm for a Celebration of Life.
