Adair Funeral Home - Dodge
Douglas Clayton Jones
June 27th, 1942 - May 27th, 2023
Douglas Jones graced us with 80 years and left us on May 27th. Born in Lansing, MI on June 27,1942 whereas a teenager he built and raced dragster’s before he was old enough to drive. In 1966, he married his middle school sweetheart and later moved their family to Tucson, AZ where they founded Sabino Electric, in 1981. His love of racing continued, but his love of hiking and traveling excelled. He hiked the Grand Canyon not once, but twice and traveled the world. Doug’s dedication to his family was matched by his dedication to public service and philanthropy. He was appointed to numerous boards, many as chairman or president; Rotary, YMCA, Lighthouse YMCA, Electric League of Arizona, American Subcontractors Association (now known as ACT), Tucson/Pima Electrical Code Committee, Southern Arizona National Electrical Contractor’s Association, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Southern Arizona, Minuteman (now known as Air Guardians), and the TEGG Advisory Committee. In 1989, Doug was Man of the Year Electric League of Arizona, YMCA’s 2016 Hall of Fame Member, and in 2022 Doug was recognized for over 30 years of dedicated service to the Unionized Electric Industry and the Tucson Community. Last but not least, the Flying Samaritans appreciated the time, talent, and monetary donations to build 2 clinics in Mexico. He's described by many as a great friend and a real gentleman and will be missed. He was preceded by his wife Sandra Jones, parents Bruce and Marion Jones. He’s survived by his daughters Cynthia Jones and Louise Jones-Magee (Bobby), siblings Gordon Jones (Sandra), Pat Brehse (Chuck), Carolyn Baumgart (Barry), and grandson Matthew Magee. A memorial will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm and from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on June 16th,2023 at Adair Funeral Home-Dodge Chapel located at 1050 North Dodge Boulevard, Tucson.
