George Joseph O'Leary
March 4th, 1931 - September 25th, 2023
George Joseph O’Leary March 4, 1931 - September 25, 2023 George O’Leary, an outspoken Irish immigrant and award winning RV park industry pioneer died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 25. He was 92. Widely considered to be an Irish immigrant success story, George was only 25 when he departed Ireland by boat, leaving his hometown of Nenagh, in County Tipperary, Ireland to build a new life for himself in North America. After obtaining U.S. citizenship, George settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked hard, and within a year was living the “American Dream,” having earned enough money in construction jobs to buy his own backhoe and launch his own construction business. He relocated to Tucson in 1970 and developed the Rincon Country Mobile Home Park before building Rincon Country East RV Resort, with 460 sites, in 1979, and Rincon Country West RV Resort, with 1,100 sites, in 1983. George sold his Rincon Country RV Resorts in 2021. George was greatly loved by all that knew him, and he was always making new friends wherever he went in Tucson, all over the United States and Ireland. He will be dearly missed. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal." George leaves behind his family and friends in Tucson, Ireland, Minnesota, and Colorado. A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on November 11, 2023, 10:00 am at St Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, you can honor George by donating to Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, The Community Food Bank of Tucson Endowment Fund, a fund George Created to commemorate the Irish Famine.
