Born November 13th, 1942 “Bry” loved growing up in Oregon and was in the first graduating class of North Eugene High School (‘60). He then attended BYU on a baseball scholarship, where he also played football. After returning from serving two years as a missionary in Scotland he met and married the love of his life, Leslie Carlson (of Salem, OR) in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28th, 1967. One of his greatest passions was mentoring young people through teaching and coaching. He began his teaching career at Provo High School where he was “Coach of the Year” after leading his football team to the state championship game. Shortly afterwards he enlisted to serve his country in the Marine Corps. Later he was thrilled to return to his hometown to take a position at Willamette High School. He spent over 50 years, teaching and coaching even his own children. He encouraged every person he ever met and was especially delighted to cheer on his grandchildren. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his faith brought him great joy and opportunities to serve. It was through his church and teaching/coaching associations that his deepest friendships were formed. His greatest joy was his family; he had conviction that through Jesus Christ, life is eternal and families will be together forever. He passed away April 6th, 2021 at the age of 78 due to complications from stomach cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Lake, and daughter Lindsay Lynne Lake. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Leslie Carlson Lake, his sister, Carolyn Schultz (Conrad), daughters Lauri Hopkins (Keven), Kelli Wilkinson (Pete), and sons Rob Bryant (Kim), Spencer Carlson (Sara), Matthew Bryant (Jessie), and 22 cherished grandchildren. Funeral Services: Saturday April 24, 2021 11:00am at 550 N. Danebo, Eugene, OR, 97402.
