Catherine Stuewer Gary On February 22,2015 Catherine Stuewer Gary, 46, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on June 4th, 1968 in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was the daughter of Hans and Mary Stuewer. Catherine received a B.A. degree from Marist College, Poughkeepsie and a MSW degree from the University of Arizona School of Social Work. On July 29, 1995 Catherine married Michael Todd Gary at Vassar College Chapel, Poughkeepsie. They made their home in Tucson, Arizona. They have three sons, Brendan, Devan and Timothy. Catherine was a very involved mother in her children’s schools and chaired many fundraising events. Cathy was employed by Oshyn Hospice. In the past she worked at Posada Del Sol and Pueblo Springs Nursing Homes. Catherine devoted her life to the welfare of others and was tireless in her efforts as advocate for clients. She was awarded the title of Social Worker of the Year for Arizona. Catherine is survived by her parents, her brother Paul,wife Sheila, her husband Michael of 20 years, her beautiful boys, father-in-law Ronald Gary, mother-in-law Carol Poncelet, brother-in-law Steven Gary, sister-in-law Susan Stites, her loving aunts Josephine O’Neill, Helen Devoy Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland and her Uncle Senan Hartney Reading, England, six nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins in Germany, Ireland, England and Ireland. The family wishes to thank Oshyn Hospice Staff for their compassionate care of Catherine during her illness, and to the many dear friends who lent support to the family in so many ways. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Francis De Sales church, Tucson, Arizona on Saturday Feb. 28th at 12 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
