She is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Jeanne; son, Steven; grandchildren Gregory, Shawna, James, Andrew, Edward, and Katherine; three great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Dalia. Caroline was born in 1943 in Chicago, Illinois and attended Amundsen High School. She, her husband, daughter, and son, moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1969. Caroline loved the beauty and wildlife of the desert and quickly made Tucson her adopted hometown. She especially loved Arizona sunsets, hummingbirds, and sunflowers. Caroline was an artist and was always painting and drawing. She taught art for many years at adult care homes throughout Tucson. She worked for several years at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic as an art director. Caroline was a life-long learner. She loved reading, studying new topics of interest, and learning new words. Caroline was an excellent conversationalist, a good listener, and had a great sense of humor. She always had time for family and friends. She touched many lives and had a lasting impact on anyone who knew her well. She will be truly missed by many. Caroline was a loving wife and was married to her husband, James, for 50 years. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. In addition, Caroline had many wonderful friends. Caroline was a devout Catholic who enjoyed attending Mass. She volunteered at St. Cyril of Alexandria Parish and for many charities over the years. She organized the annual St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic rummage sale for several years. Caroline was always upbeat and positive. She strived to live her life according to her favorite passage from the Bible: “In conclusion, my brothers, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise; things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable” (Philippians 4:8). A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, 1375 S. Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ, 85710, on July 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Casa Maria Catholic Worker Community, 401 E. 26th St., Tucson, AZ, 85713.
