Thomas Turtle Tom"" Goodwin II
September 7th, 1960 - June 10th, 2016
In Loving Memory of Thomas Naudain Goodwin II September 7, 1960, to June 10, 2016 Tom was born in Tucson, Arizona on September 7, 1960. He attended Lulu Walker elementary school, and graduated from Canyon del Oro High School. He worked for 20 years as a copper miner in San Manuel, Arizona. Tom was a race boat driver, avid fisherman, bow hunter, and true outdoorsman. He spent time as a hunting guide and skilled tracker. He currently holds the Arizona state record for Archery for a Javelina boar, a record that he's proudly held since January 24, 1993. Tom won the KofA Award in 1993 for the state record Javelina Boar. The KofA Award is the most coveted award an Arizona bow hunter can receive. Tom was very artistic and loved to create custom furniture combining metal, stone and other natural items. His furniture line Signature Furnishings can be found in designer homes all across the West and beyond. Tom was known as a reputable breeder of African Spurred Tortoise called Sulcata Tortoise. Tom was known to many of us as "Turtle Tom" and most of us recall meeting Dozer, his largest tortoise with a span of over 3' and many people have pictures of their children riding Dozer in Tom's backyard. Sulcata Tortoise are native to the Sahara Desert and thanks to Tom Goodwin, also the Sonoran Desert. In most recent years, Tom enjoyed mud racing in his mud truck "Mudweiser" and spending time with his friends along with his loyal Beagle "Hook". His greatest gift was his remarkable ability to network and make friends. He was a native Arizonan, historian and will be remembered for his story telling, generosity and sense of humor. Tom is survived by his mom Rose Marie Goodwin, brother Troy Goodwin and daughter Hunter Goodwin. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas N. Goodwin, former State of Arizona legislator who served for 16 years as Chairman of the House of Appropriations Committee, his brother Terry Goodwin, and beloved beagle Hook. Family and Friends are requesting any gift shall be in the form of donations to the Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue, 2080 S. Westmont Dr. Tucson, AZ 85713. Phone: 520-247-7720, soazbeaglerescue.com
