March 7th, 1920 - December 2nd, 2016
Mary Alvesa Garcia Laguna was born in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, March 7, 1920. On Friday, December 2nd, 2016, she peacefully entered Heaven’s gates at her home, as she wanted, surrounded by her loving immediate family. Mary had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church for many decades and joined the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1980. Predeceased by her husband, Bernardo M. Laguna and her sister Nellie Quihuis (Phoenix), Mary is survived by her son, Antonio (Norma) and Dave (Arlene) Laguna. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her sister Theresa (Luis) Lara and many nieces and nephews. Mary expressed her appreciation for the love and special attention shown to her by her loving niece, Sandra Kraus. The Laguna family is especially grateful for Mary’s loving and attentive caregivers, Martha and Eloisa and to the home care provided by the caring staff at Heartland Hospice. Mary spent the majority of her working days in the food service program with TUSD. After retirement she remained active doing volunteer work at the Casa De Los Ninos Thrift Shop and logged in almost 8000 volunteer hours at Northwest Hospital in the Gift Shop. A Rosary and Funeral Mass, celebrating her life, will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705 Concluding service and interment to follow in Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 520-327-6341
