Rochelle Swanson

SWANSON, Rochelle A. Rochelle was born in Kenmare, ND on April 16, 1949. She died in Tucson at the age of 68 on September 23, 2017. She was of Swedish-Norwegian descent. She graduated from West Phoenix high school and the University of Arizona. She did post-graduate studies at the University of Southern California. At the UofA, she earned a degree in public administration and lettered in synchronized swimming. She babysat and worked as a lifeguard. After graduating, she worked in recreation management in the Los Angeles area and Tucson. Most recently, she worked at Babies R Us in Tucson. Rochelle was active in ELCA Lutheran Church, activities all her adult life. She was also active in charitable activities, including the Special Olympics, and Pima Youth and Arizona Youth Partnership. She served as president of the latter in 2003-2005. Rochelle enjoyed socializing with her friends and relatives, raising her dogs, reading mysteries, golfing, swimming, playing piano, cheering for the Wildcats and Trojans, and listening to the music enjoyed by most boomers. She was predeceased by her father, Arthur R. Swanson and her mother, Verna W. Swanson, both of Phoenix. She is survived by her brother, Randall B. Swanson of Cheyenne. Memorial Services will be held at Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
