Barbara Elizabeth Coogan Santerre Barbara “Barb” Santerre of Somerset, Ma passed away in Tucson, AZ on April 20, 2020, with two of her daughters holding her hand. Barbara is predeceased by the love of her life, Raymond E Santerre, her parents William & Elizabeth Coogan, brothers Willian & Richard Coogan, and son-in-law Mark R Hamlin. Barbara is survived by her six children, Raymond “Scott” Santerre and wife Noella, Paula Schueneman and husband Gary, Christine “Chris” Scullary and husband James, Erika Meyer and husband Michael, Deborah Armstrong and husband Garland and Judith “Judy” Hamlin and her significant other Art Guillory, and sister-in-law Jackie Manning Coogan and numerous nieces, nephews, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Barbara was a proud Irish woman, born on Saint Patrick’s Day. She was also proud to be the wife of a Navy Veteran. Words from her sister-in-law Jackie “your mother was amazing and for a pint of a peanut, she was a force”…..no truer words spoken. Barbara was a stay at home mom but, for a short time, she was a proud 3rd grade teacher. She said, 3rd graders were the best age to teach because they were open to new things. Barbara also taught Project Head Start in the summer to underprivileged children. In her later years she volunteered at a local hospital and loved it She always had a warm smile, had a fabulous sense of humor and was a huge prankster. Her heart was huge and she was very selfless and giving. Barbara’s words were always positive and encouraging. Barbara loved playing scrabble (she won 99 % of the time), reading, crocheting, spending time with her children and grandchildren and traveling on occasion. She will be missed and held in our hearts forever. Sleep in heavenly peace mom !! Barbara will be cremated, and taken back to Somerset/Swansea Ma, along with her late husband Raymond. Their ashes will be spread together in the ocean, as their final rest place. ………as my mom always said, vaya con dios (go with God)
