Frances "Joni" Anita Clay
June 12th, 1929 - May 18th, 2022
Francis Anita “Joni” Clay “Joni”, 92, entered Heaven’s gates at 5:00 a.m. May 18, 2022 in Tucson, AZ. Joni was born June 12, 1929 in Grayson, KY to the late Albert and Martha Adkins Parsons. Joni was preceded in death by her husband Walter Clay, son in law Terry Butler, infant great grandson Garrette, five brothers and six sisters. Joni is survived by two daughters Johna Sue (Hank) Azcona of Tucson, AZ and Linda Butler of Florence, KY. Also surviving are five grandsons, six great grandsons, three great granddaughters and many more family members that mourn her passing. Joni was a homemaker and loved to cook. When you visited her you never left without eating something. Even in the days before she could no longer speak, she would want to know if we had eaten and wanted to fix us something, which she could no longer do. In Joni’s earlier years, she enjoyed making and selling pottery. She also had a love for writing poetry and some of her poems were published. Joni’s final resting place will be in Kentucky, where her heart has always been. To Villa Maria Care Center, Soulistic Hospice and Angel Valley Funeral Home; we couldn’t have been at peace on this journey without all of you. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your comfort, kindness and guidance you gave, especially to Aunt Joni. A special thank you to Chaplain Scott from Villa Maria for touching our hearts with his singing and praying with Aunt Joni. She absolutely loved you and as you know – never wanted you to leave, you were truly a blessing to her. To Aunt Joni – it was our honor and privilege taking care of you in your final days and to be with you on this journey. Rest in Jesus’s arms. We love you and miss you. Love, Jeannette and Laveta
