Angel Valley Funeral Home & Old Pueblo Crematory
Matthias James Garcia
January 15th, 2023 - January 18th, 2023
Matthias James Garcia was born January 15th, 2023 and passed away in his mother’s arms at three days old on January 18th, 2023. He was survived by his parents Anthony Garcia and Sloane (Burns) Garcia, his paternal grandparents Fermin and Loretta Garcia of Los Angeles, and maternal grandparents Richard and Gina Burns of Tucson as well as his Godparents John and Elvia Garcia and cousins Brendan and Emma Garcia. Matthias was known as his parents’ honeymoon baby. While in the womb, he was the most well-traveled baby traversing both the Atlantic Ocean and the United States traveling to multiple continents, countries and states. He was very active in the womb and loved when his mommy read him children’s stories or listened to worship music. He was especially active during holy mass and when holy priests stood in his midst. Once born, he was his parents’ angel. He was known for having the cutest little cry and a relaxed and jovial demeanor like his father and had an angelic face like his mother. Anyone who looked at his beautiful face could see how angelic it was. He was an angel even before he gained his wings. Even though he was only with us for three days on this side of Heaven, he changed his parents’ life. He was and is his parents’ pride and joy as their first born. He gave them the title of father and mother. He also gave them a taste of what Heaven is like. Funeral Notice: Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 9:00 am at St. Gianna’s Oratory, 338 W. University. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Hope Cemetery of the Diocese of Tucson, 3555 N. Oracle Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can please be made to Baby Steps Foundation in support of pregnancy and infant loss (https://www.babystepsfoundation.org/) , Hands of Hope, Tucson, AZ (https://handsofhopetucson.com/) or Reachout Women’s Center, Tucson, AZ (https://reachoutwomenscenter.com/).
