In Loving Memory of Richard David Reid Retired, U.S. Marshals Service 1930 - 2018 Richard D. Reid, 88, of Tucson, Arizona, went home to his Heavenly Father on October 25, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family. Dick was born on September 30, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Swedish parents and was proud of his Scandinavian heritage. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Dick’s career in law enforcement spanned 30 years, beginning as a Police Officer in Wheaton, Illinois and later as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in Chicago. He transferred to Tucson in 1969 where he served as the Supervisory Deputy, eventually retiring in 1985 after 23 years in the U.S. Marshals Service. Dick was fiercely devoted to his family and is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jo; his daughter, Cheryl Cole (and husband Jim) of Tucson; his son, Michael Reid (and wife Rachel) of Dallas, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by Imogene (Gene) Reid, his wife of 43 years, and his daughter Sandra (Sandy) Reid. Dick was an accomplished woodworking craftsman, and also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and shooting. He cherished his church family at Mount Olive Lutheran Church and volunteered in a variety of leadership roles, but especially enjoyed cooking for others. Dick loved people and was an outgoing man who could quickly make a stranger his friend. Those who knew Dick best will remember his outgoing personality, sense of humor, generosity, and devotion to others. A celebration of Dick’s life and graduation to heaven is scheduled at 1:00 pm on October 30, 2018 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2005 South Houghton Road, Tucson, Arizona. All who knew and loved Dick are welcome to participate in this celebration followed by a brief reception to swap stories and hugs. The family respectfully requests that the graveside service and internment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery be limited to family members only. Dick requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to Mount Olive Lutheran Church , 2005 South Houghton Road , Tucson , Arizona 85748-7635
