David Ross Comfort
August 9th, 1943 - August 12th, 2019
David Ross Comfort 76, died August 12 peacefully with his wife and children by his side. Dave was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Tucson with his family when he was 8. Dave graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School and the University of Arizona. He got a Master’s degree from Penn State University and a doctorate from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. It was here that he met Loretta, his wife of 49 years. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Martha and his granddaughter Allison. He is survived by his wife Loretta, daughter Mary (Steve), sons David (Karen) and Joe (Amy) and grandchildren Kiara and Sienna Conner, Matthew and Ryan Comfort, and Brayden, Colin, and Olivia Comfort, and his sister Saundra McCarthy. Dave started the lab at El Dorado Hospital when it opened. He later changed careers and became a stockbroker and was at Wells Fargo Advisors when he retired. Dave had a great concern for other people as evidenced by his volunteer work with Kiwanis Club and St. Vincent de Paul. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 26 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd. A private burial will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery followed by a reception for guests at the cemetery reception room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Joseph Church or any other charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at Arizona Oncology and the hospice staff at The Center at Tucson for their care of Dave through his long battle with cancer. Dave’s love and care for people and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
