Mary Louise Schagel
November 18th, 1943 - December 7th, 2020
Mary Louise Schagel, age 77, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 7, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on November 18, 1943 in Santa Barbara, California to George “Pete” and Dorothea Williams. She was raised in Sunnyvale, California where she attended Fremont High School, graduating in the class of 1961. During her high school years, Mary was active in Rainbow for Girls (A Masonic youth organization) where she achieved the appointment of Worthy Advisor. Mary met the love of her life, William, on a blind date in late 1961. She married William S. Schagel on March 28, 1962 in Santa Clara, California. Mary was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a passion for Genealogy and Family History work. She served in various church callings throughout her life. Gardening, quilting, traveling, and meeting up with “the girls'' for lunch were a few of her simplest pleasures. Her greatest joy of all, was attending her grandchildren’s various activities and being with them on their special days. Mary was also active in her community and did her civic duty by volunteering as an election official and working the election polls for over 20 years. Mary was preceded in death by her father George Peter Williams and Mother Dorothea Louise Mc Gill. Mary is survived by her husband, William S. Schagel, three sons and two daughters - William Scott (Erica) Schagel, Shelly Schagel-Brown, Kenneth (Lori) Schagel, Christopher (Shawn) Schagel, and Catherine (Nic) Dewsnup. Grandchildren - Zachary (Nicole) Rigby, Addison Schagel, Bryson (Sarah) Schagel, Greg Schagel, Hayden Schagel, Lauren Schagel, Madellyn Brown, Alexis Schagel, Austin Schagel, Jacob Schagel, Maerynn Brown, Riley Schagel, Jordis Schagel, Ehren Parker Schagel, Loganne Blankstrom, Cooper Dewsnup, Cole Schagel, Carter Dewsnup, and Taylor Schagel. Great Grandchildren - Aven Rigby, Ella Rigby, Bryah Schagel, and Daxon Rigby. Also survived by are her sisters Alice Cuenca and Donna Craine and many other extended family members and friends. Funeral Services and Visitation will be held Saturday, December 19th at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints West Stake Center on 3530 West Magee Road, Tucson, Az 85741. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Following the Funeral Service, Mary will be laid to rest at Binghampton LDS Cemetery, 4001 North Alvernon Way, Tucson, Az 85718.
