George Clinton Couchman peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 8th, 2020. He was born February 8th, 1935 to Mary Augusta Tuttle and Harry Clinton Couchman Wife: Jo-Ann Couchman Brothers: Robert Oxley Couchman and wife Barbara of Tucson, AZ; William “Bill” Richard Couchman and wife Christina of Wahiawa, HI; Daughters: Cinde Russell of Livermore, CA, Calice Ducey (Leo) of Windham, N.H.,; Cande Couchman, Livermore, CA and Michelle Bardony (Roland) of San Mateo, CA; Step-Children: Jodie Ann Brian (Timothy) and Richard Alan Lawrence Jr. of North Carolina; Grandchildren: Sarah Russell, Cassandra Ducey, Bryan Ducey, David Russell, Samantha Brian Hutchison Shiane Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence, Milla Bardony and Leighton Bardony. He graduated from: Hutton Elementary in 1949, and Lewis Clark High School in 1953 as “the track/cross country star. A graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle, WA- Sigm Nu Fraternity. “Track star”…earning letters for cross country running. Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, being 1 of 20 young men accepted, where he studied with Robert Duvall, Susan Pleshette, and Ken Kercheval. George joined the United States Army Reserve where he served for 6 years. His Career: 10 years with JC Penney, Spokane, WA, Helena and Great Falls, MT 1956-1966. Joined Montgomery Ward in 1966-1994 in Pocatello, ID. Where he worked his way up from a Department manager to the District Staff in Oakland, CA; Oklahoma, OK; Chicago, IL; to Store Manager in Kingsport, TN. George retired in 1993 from Montgomery Ward, then He and Jo-Ann returned to their home to Dublin, CA. He started to work for RGIS retail as an auditor then transferred to Tucson, AZ with his wife in 1994. Where George continued working as an auditor for RGIS till 2006. Famous Footwear Store Manager from 2006-2014 when he retired a 2nd time. And then retired from Pier I. as a sales associate from 2014-2020. George retired fully at the age of 84, and became very active in the community. Where he served as Head of the Landscape Committee then as the Vice President of the Board. Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Bring Funeral Home located at 6910 E. Broadway Blvd. in Tucson, AZ. George will be cremated and placed with his parents off the shores of Hawaii in an outrigger ceremony along with a bottle of his favorite wine. George is and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Any donations, please contribute to the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson, AZ.
