Norman "Woody" Arthur Woodbury Jr.

Norman Arthur "Woody" Woodbury, Jr. December 11, 1945 ~ May 23, 2021 Our husband, father and grandfather, Norman A. Woodbury Jr., PCC (Retired), USN, passed away on May 23rd at his home in Tucson. Surrounded in love with family and friends, he passed into God's eternal love after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Woody was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Norman and Marjorie (Christen) Woodbury, and spent many years of his youth on a family farm in Meadow, South Dakota. In 1966, he joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country for 21 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He was stationed in various locations throughout the United Statesand in Asia, icluding the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong and Diego Garcia. During the Vietnam War, he spent time in-theater providing logistical support to both Naval and ground forces. In 1977, Woody married the love of his life, Nena Alorro. They and their son Gerry lived abroad for several years before settling in Sierra Vista, Arizona in 1981. Upon retirement from the Navy in 1983, he worked for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department and also as a Surveillance Officer for the Arizona Department of Probations. Woody and Nena enjoyed the next 30 years together in their homes in Sierra Vista and Hereford, Arizona, raising their son Gerry and spent considerable time with his two sons from a previous marriage, Theron Dean and Christopher Glenn. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering for events that contributed to the Sierra Vista community. After retiring from the department of probation, Woody and Nena relocated in 2011 to their home in Tucson, Arizona. Woody was a charismatic person who had many friends; he cherished time with his family and friends and loved recounting many memories of his childhood, military service and special moments with his family. He will eternally be remembered and loved. Woody was predeceased by his parents , Marjorie (Christen) and Norman Woodbury Sr., and his sister, Judy Randall. He is survived by his wife, Nena; sons, Theron Dean (Lydia), Christopher Glenn and Gerry (Megan); grandsons, Eric Joshua and Justin Matthew; grandaughter Ava Malaya; and great grandchildren Camille and Elisha, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private memorial service will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Tucson on May 28, 2021, followed by an interment service at the Saint Andrews the Apostle Parish in Sierra Vista.
