Obituary of Joe Lee Morris Joe Lee Morris was born January 18, 1937, in Henderson, TX to Mary and Marvin Morris, Sr. who preceded him in death. Joe was the youngest son of nine children. He was the last of his generation. On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the age of 84, he was ushered into the presence of the Lord by sisters, Ruby Smith, Faustine “Dot” Johnson, Ida Mae Reed, Wilma Jean Wilson; brothers Cornell Morris, J.D. Morris, A.D Morris and Marvin “Pete” Morris II; all who preceded him in death. Joe moved to Oakland, CA, where he served in the United States Army Corps from July 1959 to July 1961. During this time he met and married, Leola Witherspoon. To this union they had two sons, Joe Jr. and Leonjo. They remained married until 1974. On September 15, 1976, Joe married Patricia Ann Lewis; blending a family unit that included his sons and gaining a daughter in Cara Dee Vilders; and a niece/daughter in Frances Fogle. Joe and Patricia shared more than 44 years together, before she preceded him in death on January 9, 2021. Joe and Pat both worked together at the Alameda Naval Shipyard in California. At the same time, Joe owned his own janitorial and landscaping businesses and performed multiple home remodelings. Joe retired from civil service in 1995. They relocated to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1998 where Joe continued his landscaping business. Joe and Pat moved to Tucson, AZ in July 2002. He followed his passion of being retired, meeting new friends, spending time with family and playing golf as a member of the Tucson Desert Duffers. To carry on his legacy and cherish his memory, Joe leaves two sons Joe L. Morris, Jr. and Leonjo L. Morris, Sr. (Dansiea) all whom reside in Tucson, AZ; daughter, Cara Dee Vilders (Mike) of Kalamzoo, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Alexis, JaMier, DeJon, Tierra, LeAundre, Leonjo “LJ” and Veronica; nine great-grandchildren, Patricia, Christian, Skylair, Amari, Tracy, Nova, Nuray, Jayde and Alaiia; two honorary grandchildren, Paige and Mia; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
