John Vaughn

John R. Vaughn, 80 of Tucson, AZ died November 20, 2017. He was born in Jackson, Alabama to the late John H. and Nell T. Vaughn. After graduation from Parrish High School in Selma, Alabama he majored in political science at the University of Alabama and received his BA degree. He was proud to be a life long supporter of the University. He later received Masters degrees from George Washington University and the University of Southern California. He was employed in several elements of the Department of Defense in the field of financial management. He ultimately retired from the position of Comptroller of the Defense Mapping Agency. His service was recognized by being twice awarded the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive. He also received the Department of Defense Distinguished Service Medal. He was married to Dolores Riesmeyer of Wonewoc, Wisconsin for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his sister Rebekah Anne Troutman. The family requests that no flowers be sent and any donations should be made to the charity of your choice. Dolores Vaughn will be receiving friends at their home at 3623 N. Camino Rio Soleado, Tucson, Arizona on November 27, 2017, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. A private family service will be held at a later date.
