Leola Cook
August 16th, 1920 - August 15th, 2014
Sunrise: August 16, 1920 in Clarksville, TX Sunset: August 15, 2014, Tucson, AZ Leola parents were Beulah Henderson Jones and Annias Miles. She was raised by her mother and Step-father, Forrest Jones. Leola was an active member and a faithful Usher of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ. She didn't believe in sending her children to church, she took them to church along with other children. The Lord led her to be one of the founders of Ideal Missionary Baptist Church organized in her home on Meyers street in Tucson, AZ. She was an active member in the Choir, Usher Board, Mission/Mothers Board, BTU teacher and Youth leader. She was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star for many years. She later moved her membership to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ where she was an active member until her health failed her. Leola was a foster parent to many children and a friend to all those who knew her. As a licensed Senior Companion Worker, she received many awards for her work in this field. (Some of her senior companions were younger). Leola was an Avon, Bee-line and Tupperware representative for many years. She also fed the homeless and food in her house, was never thrown away. If you threw it away, she would make you sit by the trash can and eat it. Leola loved all her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and her faithful dog BEAR, (who preceded her in death). Leola raised all her children with the help of the Lord, even on her sick bed she would say "He's been taking care of me all my life". Leola married Jodie Cook in Clarksville, TX on September 23, 1939. Leola survived Jodie who passed away on September 8, 1994. Of this reunion 13 children were born.
