Eldon Lee Jacobus

On the evening of June 11, 2019, Eldon Lee Jacobus of Elk Grove passed away at the age of 82. He battled Alzheimer's for 8 years. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Eldon was born to Floyd and Nellie Jacobus on August 11, 1937 in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of four children. He had two sisters, Elaine and Pauline and a brother, Chub. Eldon married Jacqueline Nace on June 22, 1956. He was 18 and she was 17. They raised four children: Timothy, Steven, Randy, and Kimberley. Eldon was in the Navy for four years. He was based in San Diego where he worked first on the USS Skagit and then on the USS Port Marion. Once out of the Navy, he went to work for Mayfair Market. After a year there, he got a job with Bel Air Markets where he retired at the age of 55 after 31 years of service. In October of 1975, Eldon and his family built a new house from the ground up while living in a small trailer on their property. It took them a year to complete it. They lived in that house for 27 years making many wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren. Eldon was well known for his love of gardening! He always had plants in the greenhouse and rows and rows of fruits and vegetables that he tended to daily. You never left his house without a bag of freshly cut up veggies. When he wasn't in the garden, you could usually find him sitting in the garage listening to country music or relaxing in his recliner watching sports or the news while enjoying a beer or two. He also enjoyed going on cruises with Jackie, her sister, Betty, and her husband, Bob. In all, they went on eight cruises together and various other trips. More then anything though, he loved having his family around him! Eldon is survived by is loving wife of 63 years, Jackie. His son, Tim and his wife, Kelly, his son, Steve, his son, Randy and his wife, Rhonda. His grandchildren, Rochelle and her husband, Jesse, Candace, Scott, Zach and his wife, Bella, Carlee, and Corey. His great grandchildren, Presley and Jaxon. And, of course, their dog, Jasper, along with many other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, his brother and both sisters and his daughter, Kimberley. He will be greatly missed!
