Terry K. Schandel, 77, of Milwaukie, Oregon, owner of Terry K. Schandel, CPA, PC, reluctantly passed away on February 17, 2024, fighting leukemia. He had hoped to recover and complete one more tax season, but that was not in the cards he was dealt!
Terry was born on August 23, 1946, to Martin and Rosalee Schandel of Oregon City, Oregon. He is a graduate of Oregon City High School and received a bachelor's degree from Portland State University in 1968, where he met his future wife and business partner, Susan Marjorie Young. In 1969, he was drafted into the Army and served as an audio-visual specialist at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. “Good morning, Vietnam.” In 1972, he became a Certified Public Accountant and worked alongside his wife in their company, Schandel & Schandel, PC, until she died in 2005.
Terry provided over five decades of tax and financial services to his clients. Throughout his long career, he has received numerous awards, including Portland's Top Wealth Managers and Portland's Select Wealth Managers. He loved what he did and the people that he worked for. In addition to his first love, “taxes, taxes, taxes”, Terry was an audiophile, a philatelist, a woodworker, a car enthusiast and a serial networker for the organization we do not name. He loved to travel, adventure, a good story and a glass of wine.
A celebration of Terry's life is being planned with details provided as they become available.
