Dolores Ann Lovin
July 25th, 1933 - July 24th, 2021
Tribute Dolores Ann Lovin, 87 of Longmont, CO peacefully passed away in her home on July 24, 2021. She was born on July 25, 1933 in Lloydell, PA to Michael Chunta and Mary Brinzo. Dolores graduated high school from St. Francis Academy in Danville, PA; and then went on to earn a degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. While in pharmacy school, she met her future husband, Joseph Lovin, whom she married on September 8, 1956 in her hometown of Lloydell, PA. In the years that followed, Dolores supported Joseph in completing his medical school and residency; as they resided in PA, OH, MI, and NM. During this time, they had four children; Joseph Jr., Mark, Tom and Mary. They finally settled in Longmont in 1969. Dolores earned a MS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado in 1976. Tragically, Dr. Joseph Lovin passed away in 1977, and Dolores was charged with supporting her four children alone. She served as a Pharmacy Director at various hospitals while putting her four children through college. Upon completing this momentous task, she was ready for adventure and took a four year position as Pharmacy Director in Palmer, AK. Dolores was recognized in Who’s Who in the West in 1982/83. When she returned to Longmont, she purchased St. Vrain Pharmacy in Lyons, CO and functioned as owner operator until she retired in 2013. Dolores lived her life with ambition for achievement and passion for education and culture. She relished opportunities to immerse herself in other cultures and traveled international extensively. In the “People to People” program, she was an honorary presenter to the Chinese Pharmacy Association in Beijing, China. Dolores also resided in Kracow, Poland for one summer, where she taught English to high school students. Dolores was a voracious reader, and her home was always filled with stacks of books. She loved classical music, played the violin as a hobby, and was a member of the Longmont Symphony Guild. She was an avid patron of the fine arts. Throughout her life, Dolores’ highest priority was education. She was a lifelong scholar and sponsored an academic scholarship at Duquesne University. In her quiet time, she enjoyed knitting, gardening and hiking. She worshiped at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Dolores was proceeded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary; her husband Joseph, her son Joseph Jr., and her siblings Germaine and Robert. She is survived by her brother Michael; her children Mark, Tom and Mary; and her grandchildren Brian, Sam, Ben and Kaito. A memorial service will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday, August 5 at 10AM, with internment following at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dolores’ honor to Duquesne University School of Pharmacy or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
