Lee "Soile" Sylvia Simpson

Lee (Soile) Sylvia Simpson, 85, formally of Copperopolis, CA passed away from complications of a stroke on January 30th, 2023, at Mercy Hospital of Folsom in Folsom, CA. She was born on June 10th, 1937, in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario, Canada, to Yrjo and Elma (Korpi) Anderson. Lee graduated from Hillcrest High School (in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada) in 1955. She married Jerry Simpson on July 4th, 1975, in Bucksport, ME. She held careers as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for the California Department of Corrections, Sonora Mining, and General Dynamics industries. Until recently, Lee had a real zest for life and enjoyed listening to music (especially Neil Diamond), playing Bingo/gambling, traveling, playing along with the TV quiz shows, crocheting, reading mystery novels, playing card games, and completing daily crossword puzzles. She was also a member of the Lutheran faith and reminded her family that she was “not afraid to die and be reunited with her loved ones”. Lee was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Anton, and is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Simpson, daughter, Kathy Medeiros of Fairview, OR, stepdaughter, Heidi Vares (husband Shannon) of Placerville, CA, and stepson, Eric Simpson of Bucksport, ME. She is also survived her grandchildren, Gabriel Medeiros (wife Lauren) of Lake Forest, CA, Miles Medeiros (wife Ravyn) of Portland, OR, Kelsey Medeiros of Denver, CO, of Kayla Vares of Santa Cruz, CA, and Hannah Vares of Placerville, CA, great-grandchildren, Barrett, Remi, Madeline Medeiros of Lake Forest, CA, and nephews, Bob and Ray Anderson of Thunder Bay, Canada.
