Raymond Aaron Crockett, was born in Sacramento, Calif., January 9, 1918 and passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Chico, Calif. He was married to Dolores "Dee" Tracy Crockett on June 15, 1941, they were married for nearly 62 years before Dee passed away in March of 2003. Ray began his 25 years with The Division of Highways (Cal-Trans) in Colfax, Calif., in 1950. Two years later he was transferred to Chico. After several years in Chico, he accepted leading man positions in Gibson (Shasta Co.) and Happy Camp. In 1962, Ray transferred to Chester, retiring in 1975 from Cal-Trans. Ray and Dee were long-time residents of Chester. Many will remember his shop on Lassen Street, where he refinished antique oak furniture. They also had a very popular yard sale each 4th of July. Ray and Dee returned to Chico 12 years ago, living near their daughter, Sandy. Ray was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eli Aaron and Clara Mae; four brothers and two sisters. Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Maria Crockett of Charlotte, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Dick MacDonald of Chico; brother, Fred Crockett of Utah; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and another due in May. Interment for Ray and Dee will be Saturday, June 16, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Chester Cemetery.
