Mel Joseph Goulart

Mel Joseph Goulart, 74, passed away New Year’s Eve, 2016. He was born March 1, 1942. Parents Manuel and Julia Goulart lived in Hanford, CA, the first years of his life. He grew up in Aptos, CA and later moved to the North state after his father purchased a ranch in Orland, CA, which he ran. Mel married Sandy Mezger in 1965. After the birth of their 3 children, the ranch was sold and they moved to Chico, CA, in 1970 to raise their children. They lived a very active life of sports and socializing. He played sports competitively and he coached various women's teams of Sandy's and later his children's. He owned Chico Car Wash for 20 years. Mel was loyal, proud, a fighter, passionate, strong, generous and protective. His greatest joy was his role as father. He is survived by his three children all of Chico: Marci (Richard), Stacey and Matt; his three grandchildren, Max, Cameron and Madden; former wife, Sandy Goulart; significant other, Suzanne Jeffers.
