Claudia J. Hassanally A funeral service for Claudia Jeanette Hassanally, 59, of Quincy, CA will be held on March 20, 2008, 12:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Covenant Church North Campus Chapel, 2221 Palos Verdes Dr. North, Rolling Hills Estates, CA, followed by an interment service at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. An intimate gathering will follow at the family’s home. Claudia passed away on March 7, 2008 at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA. She was born on May 25, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA to Charles Myers and Georgia Brown Myers. Claudia was raised in Palos Verdes, graduating from Palos Verdes High School in 1966. She was active in Girl Scouts for many years and volunteered as an interpreter at Harbor General Hospital. Claudia was married to Zaffar Hassanally for 11 years, with whom she raised three daughters. She worked for over ten years in many capacities as a civil servant for the city of Hermosa Beach. Claudia enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the U.S. She ultimately fulfilled her dream of living in a log cabin in the mountains of Quincy, CA, where she relished in the beauty of the natural surroundings and her treasured animal friends. Claudia was known by friends and family for her compassion, honesty, and thoughtfulness. She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who is survived by her three daughters, Alya Lucas (Chris) of Rolling Hills, CA, Nadia Damm (Joseph) of Milwaukee, WI and Leila Gilland (Kevin) of San Jacinto, CA; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Ashley Lucas; her mother, Georgia Myers, her former husband, Zaffar Hassanally, and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Labre Indian School, c/o Affordable Mortuary, 587 Country Drive, Chico, CA 95928, who are handling the arrangements.
