John Peeples, 66, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He fought a courageous battle against a rare and aggressive strain of cancer. John was born January 1, 1945 in Palo Alto, CA to Pete and Gussie Peeples. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He attended Foothill College and graduated from Chico State University in 1972, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. In 1973, John, along with his brother, Phil, started Peeples Brothers Construction and Plumbing. Their work was highly respected and sought out. In 1978, John married the girl of his dreams and best friend, Brenda. In 1995, John, along with his brother, Phil and nephews, Richard and Jimmy, opened the Tackle Box. John later retired to travel and spend more time with his family. John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda; his sons, Robert Peeples, and Ronnie Cockrell, (wife Heather), and grandsons, Gavin and Camden. John is also survived by his brother, Phil Peeples, (wife Kathy), niece, Laura, and nephews, Richard and Jimmy. Although John was considered by many to be a workaholic, he did enjoy hunting, fishing, tall stories, good jokes and sitting around a campfire with family and friends. A Celebration of John's Life is planned on Jan. 7, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m, at his home in Chico.
