Walter John Unck
March 9th, 1936 - June 1st, 2014
Walter John Unck, 78 passed away June 1, 2014. His Family will be holding a Memorial Service for him on June 21, 2014 at 1 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Decoto Road, Fremont, California. Walt was a resident of Gridley for 15 years. His great love of community lead him to serve in the Rotary Club, be a part of the Red Suspenders Parade and become a founding owner of the Carriage House Restaurant and Saloon for many years. Walt's reputation for the kind and fun-loving heart he had will be missed by many. He cared for people and always had a kind gesture or joke to tell. He was born in San Francisco, California in 1936 and worked for Pan Am Airlines for 35 years. Travel was part of his whole family's experience as he often encouraged adventure and trying new things. He is survived by his brother, Johnny Unck; sisters, Diane Politas, Patsy Jenkins, Sheila Criss and Sandy Brimmer; daughters, Debbie Emery (Bill O'Brien), Cindy Land (Kim Land), Lisa Bass (Ken Bass); two sons, Jeffrey and Jason Unck (Natalia Unck); and grandson, Austin Unck. Walt is also survived by his best friend and mother to his children, Kay Unck. Preceded in death by his brother, Gerrold Unck and daughter, Sandra Nobel. In lieu of flowers, Walt would wish a donation to the charity to your choice. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Carriage House in Gridely 660 Ohio Street at 4 p.m. To send a flower arrangement or to plant trees in memory of Walter John Unck, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.
