Robert Russell
February 25th, 1943 - March 23rd, 2020
Tribute Robert (Bob) J Russell, 77, of Longmont, CO passed away on March 23, 2020 in his home after a long battle with Cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 25, 1943, son of the late Daniel and Susan Russell. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, his three children, Debbie (Joe) Olson of Rochester MN, Suzanne Gray (Wes Salley) of Lakewood, CO and Robert Russell Jr. (Jessica) of Longmont, CO, his six grandchildren, Kelley and Joey Olson, Justin and Katelyn Gray, Meghan and Allison Russell, one great grandchild, Kylie Olson and brother Daniel (Maureen) Russell of Lavallette, NJ. Bob married the love of his life, Maureen, (who also happened to be the girl next door) on September 23, 1967 in Little Falls, NJ. They were married for 52 wonderful years. Bob was an Air Force Veteran and graduate of Pace University with a degree in Business Administration. He worked for IBM for 37 years where he lived and worked in NJ, NY, MN, and finally in Boulder, CO where he was the Director of Human Resources, in the Printing Systems Division. Bob always dreamed of becoming a restaurant owner. So following his retirement in 2001, he became partner in the Niwot Tavern in Niwot, CO in 2005. He was an incredibly giving person. For the past 11 years he and his partner hosted a complimentary Christmas Dinner at the Niwot Tavern along with their families which was opened to anyone in need. He loved to play golf, cook, and travel, take walks with his dogs, attend Rockies games, spend time with family, play Pinochle with neighborhood friends and enjoying rides in one of his two treasured Corvettes with Maureen. Due to current circumstances, there will not be a memorial service at this time. However, the family hopes to have “A Celebration of Life” sometime this summer to honor his memory. In the meantime, if you have stories you would like to share with the family, please email [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Longmont Humane Society or the Wounded Warriors Foundation, charities that were both important to Bob.
