Erma Maxine Nelson
December 27th, 1931 - July 6th, 2019
Tribute Erma Maxine Creech Nelson - Born December 27, 1931 - July 6, 2019 Erma was the hardworking, responsible and helpful eldest of 11 children born to Lee and Ruth (Davis) Creech. Still living are Edna McCall, Mary Hillard, Katherine Mindoro, David Creech, Judy Jaques, Linda Dingledine, Sandra Boyd and half-sister Geneva (Million) Wooten. Both of her parents and brothers Melvin, Donal and Larry; and half-brother Clinton Solomon have preceded her in death. Having grown up in towns around Rogers, Arkansas, she graduated from Rogers High School in 1949 as the Salutatorian of her class. Shortly after her marriage with Paul R. Nelson on October 7, 1950, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They raised their two daughters, Paula and Brenda, in the towns of Wauwatosa and Waukesha. Erma went back to school in the late 60’s and earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Waukesha Technical College. After that, she had a 20 year career as an income tax auditor for the state of Wisconsin, retiring in 1991. After retiring, Paul and Erma moved to Lafayette, Colorado to be near children and grandchildren. They enjoyed many family outings and get-togethers, helped raise the grand children, and covered many miles on their “famous” road trips - they both loved to drive. She kept her mind active in recent years playing Scrabble, watching “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune,” and doing cross-word puzzles. She was always learning. Due to some health issues, Paul and Erma moved in with son-in-law Gerry & daughter Brenda Everett in Longmont, Colorado, in 2003. After Paul’s death in 2006, Erma continued to live with her family until shortly before her death. She was able to enjoy all three of her greatgrandchildren - Genevieve and Vivienne, born to grand-daughter Tiffany, and Trystan Logan; and Adelaide Walton, daughter of youngest grand-daughter Amanda Everett. They will all miss “Grandma.” A joint celebration of Paul’s and Erma’s lives will be held at the New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 2701 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, Arkansas on October 7th, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Internment of their ashes and a graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Rogers Cemetery Services You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Erma Maxine Nelson
