Daniel L Struss

Tribute Daniel Lee Struss, age 55, passed away December 19, 2018 in Longmont, Colorado, due to complications from a six year battle with kidney cancer. Born on August 11, 1963, in Hastings, Nebraska to Robert and Irene(Uden) Struss, Dan grew up in Kenesaw, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska. In 1987 he moved to Boulder, Colorado, and settled in Longmont, Colorado in 1994, where he lived until his passing. He worked at several businesses in Longmont, including the local Budweiser distributor, The Daily Times-Call and Frontier Honda. In recent years, he was limited by his cancer, but very much enjoyed traveling. He was able to travel to Hawaii, and take a cruise to Alaska before his passing, which were both very meaningful to him. He was an avid golfer, and was very proud to have scored a Hole in One twice in his career. He enjoyed skiing, and all the outdoor activities Colorado had to offer. He was a huge fan of the Chelsea(London) soccer team, and a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He married Jennifer Bartunek in 1988 in Juniata, Nebraska. They recently celebrated their 30th Anniversary. They had two children together, Karl of Longmont, Colorado, and Isabelle of Anaheim, California. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Johnson, of Hastings, Nebraska, brother Laverne, of Port Neches, Texas, and brother Roger, of Hastings, Nebraska. A celebration of his life and gathering of friends will be held on December 27, at 5pm at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel, 503 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado. Additionally, a memorial is planned at Christ Lutheran Church, Juniata, Nebraska, on December 29. Please contact family for details.
