Tribute Leona Rocksvold Holub May 22, 1923-December 14, 2018 Lee Rocksvold Holub passed away in Greeley, Colorado on December 14, 2018. She was 95 years old. Lee was born to Albert Bernhard Rocksvold and Katherine Brosius Rocksvold in Grafton, North Dakota. She grew up on farm land near the Red River in North Dakota with seven brothers and sisters. The family owned and worked a thriving thrashing outfit for themselves and neighboring farms. In 1937, Lena, as she was called in high school, graduated from Walsh County High School. She then followed her sister Marie to work in Washington D.C. It was there that she met her husband, Robert Holub, who was on leave from his duties as a Naval Officer. During WWII, while Robert (Bob) was serving, Lee supported the troops in Washington DC, volunteering with the USO. Upon Bob's return, they were married in 1946 and headed to California for their honeymoon. Along the way, they stopped in Colorado to visit relatives. They fell in love with Colorado, never making it to California. Colorado became their home to raise a family. Lee and Bob lived in Greeley and Longmont during their 72 years of marriage. They worked together managing Firestone, Texaco Central, and Longmont Taxi. Additionally, she used her bookkeeping skills to manage books for a furniture store, a jeweler, a radio station, a rancher and the American Legion, all while raising three daughters. Both Lee and Bob were active members of the Elks, VFW, and the American Legion Post 32. Lee was honored as Colorado State Woman of the year of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary for her years of service and as president. She made countless bags of toffee to sell to support the scholarships the Legion sponsored. She was a tireless volunteer for many years. Camping and fishing at Beaver Lake were favorite past times for Lee and her family. She was famous for her large campfires. As leader of her daughters' girl scout troops, she taught the girls how to start a campfire with one match, as well as many other indoor and outdoor skills. As an expert seamstress, Lee sewed many clothes for her three daughters. Loving to craft, her home was always decorated to celebrate the current season. Lee was preceded in death by her husband Bob, who passed away in February, 2018. Lee is survived by her sister Ruth Buzalsky (Gilbert), daughters Ralene Gleeson, Paula Klawiter (Wig) and Joan Norblom. Five grandchildren include Brandon Gleeson (Heather) Joelle Pearson (Jared) Blaine Klawiter, Cameron Klawiter, Bryce Norblom and great grandson, Cru Pearson.
