Donald "Mike" Michael Elmore

Donald "Mike" Elmore was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on August 10, 1945 and passed away on July 18, 2013 of a massive brain hemorrhage. While he lived in many areas and went to many schools, he could never believe the welcoming of the people in the San Lorenzo Valley. Mike served four years in the navy from 1963-1967. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce, and two children, Jennifer (Todd) Meyer of Bonny Doon and Scott Elmore of Felton, and four granddaughters, Athena Meyer, Katie Meyer, Samantha Elmore, and Jessica Elmore. He is also survived by a brother, Doug Elmore of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and two sisters, Suzanne Sturges of Mexico, and Roberta Nash of Sun Valley, Nevada. He also has several nieces and nephews. Mike worked as a watchmaker-jeweler for 15 years before opening his own store, Gransbury-Elmore Jewelers in 1986, and then Mike's Watch Shop from 1999 to 2010. He was a volunteer fireman for the Felton Fire Department for 10 years and loved every minute of it, including the job and the people in his department and the rest of the Valley Departments. He also coached Little League and Senior League, again he loved the game but more than anything he loved the kids he coached and always enjoyed hearing about their grownup lives. Mike loved classic cars and eventually restored the family's 1958 Chevy station wagon which he could be driving around the Valley and Santa Cruz. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:00 at the Felton Fire Department. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Felton Volunteer Fire Department.
