Larry Sittner
November 16th, 1945 - May 14th, 2018
Tribute Larry David Sittner of Longmont, Colorado died in his home on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was 72. Born in Ovid, Colorado on November 16, 1945, he was the eldest son of George P. Sittner Sr. and Esther (Heil) Sittner. In the early 1950’s his family moved to Longmont. Larry graduated from Longmont High School on June 4, 1964. Larry was in the United States Air Force from November 18, 1965 until November 17, 1969. He was honorably discharged from Beale AFB in Marysville, California. After the Air Force, he attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Following college, he got a job with the phone company in Longmont. He worked there for 30+ years and retired in 2004. During his time there, he made may wonderful friends. Not long after retirement, he started working part-time at the FAA as a security guard. Larry was a life-long member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Throughout Larry’s life, he was a friend and caregiver to “ALL”. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him! He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He LOVED “ALL” animals, especially his best buddies Brandy, Mandy, Susie, and Marley. His dogs meant everything to him. Larry loved more than anything attending sporting events for his nieces and nephews and their children. Whether it was watching them coach the sport or actually playing in the game, it didn’t matter to him. This included softball, volleyball, track, basketball, baseball, soccer, and everything in between. Nothing gave him more pride and joy than watching all of “his” babies. His greatest hobby was cars! He enjoyed collecting them, owning and driving them, going to and participating in car shows. Larry was a “Ford Man”, and owned many of them. He loved his mustangs and enjoyed putting them in car shows for everyone to enjoy. Larry LOVED sports! Football and baseball were his favorites. He loved cheering on the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He took pride in knowing every team, every coach, and every player. Larry also loved collecting knives, clocks, and trains. Larry was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his mother Esther Sittner, father George Sittner, oldest sister Karen Sittner, baby sister Kayleen Sittner, nephew Brian Hefner, and great nephew Travis Sittner. Survivors include his brother Donnie Sittner and his wife Jeanne of Loveland, Colorado; his brother George Jr. Sittner and his wife Alice of Longmont, Colorado; and his sister Linda Niswender of Loveland, Colorado. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Cathi Onorato and her husband Mark of Green Valley, Arizona; Brian Hefner’s wife Beth and their children Ben and Ellie of Georgia; Jeffery Sittner and his wife Cressy of Kempner, Texas and their daughter Meghan; Jolene Hebert and her husband Jesse of Loveland and their children Jaelynn and Jonah; Jamie Bolton and her husband Chris of Loveland and their children Johnathan, Imari, and Auhnalyn; LeaAnn Byrne of Longmont and her children Donovan and Adrienne; Aaron Sittner and his wife Kasondra of Mead and their child Sawyer; Alicia O’Herron and her husband Kolby of Arvada and their children Brogan, Barrett, and Rory; Cody Perry of Loveland and his children Kolie and Cameron; and Monica Sittner and her two boys of Texas; and numerous other family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Suncrest Hospice of Loveland, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Longmont. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory. Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 32 of Longmont.
