Mae Burkhart

Tribute Mae Jean Burkhart 84, was born on May 20, 1934 in Longmont, Colorado to Peter and Elizabeth Schlagel. She passed away on June 22, 2018 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado. Mae was raised in Longmont and graduated from Longmont High School. She married Richard Burkhart on March 6, 1953 after meeting at the candy shop that she worked in. They farmed in the Mead area for many years and she was a homemaker. She had two children, William (Bill) and Jeannie. In 1999 they moved to Fort Morgan and continued farming. Mae was an avid Broncos fan, loved spending time with family, and playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings- Willie Schlagel, MaryAnn Whitlock, Lorene Heil, Mildred Haubert, Lucille Jurich; and her daughter Jeannie Harder. She is survived by her husband Richard; son Bill and Mary Burkhart; her son in law Bob Harder (Jeannie's husband); 7 grandkids- Kenny Harder, Ashlea Gallon, Rob Harder, Amanda Hogan (Brian), Angie Harder, Chris Burkhart, and Kaitlyn Burkhart; and 6 great-grandkids. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Interment will follow the service at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
