Maria Del Socorro Garcia Rodela
August 1st, 1935 - January 19th, 2017
August 1, 1935 – January 19, 2017 44 Year Resident of Santa Cruz Friends and family will gather in Santa Cruz on Tuesday January 24, 2017 for a Rosary and Catholic Blessing Ceremony celebrating the blessed life of Maria Garcia Rodela who passed away peacefully in Santa Cruz at the age of 81. Mrs. Garcia Rodela was born in Guadalupe Victoria, Durango, Mexico, and moved to Santa Cruz 44 years ago, soon after her husband had passed away. A devoted and determined mother, she raised her 13 children as a single mom, and will affectionately and forever be remembered for her firmness and unwavering tenacity in protecting her precious family. Mrs. Garcia Rodela was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Her Catholic Faith was the foundation for her loyalty and devotion to her loved ones and friends. There will always be cherished memories of how she enjoyed treating herself later in life, to fashionable clothes and conveniences that she had denied herself as a young mother, especially her large and extravagant collection of shoes. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her large and loving family, watching Mexican Classics Movies, dining out for Chinese food, and watching boxing matches and other sporting events with her family. She is survived by her children: Maria Del Carmen Garcia Rodela, Jorge Luis Aguilar Garcia, Rosario Silva, Arcelia Cisneros, Victor Manuel Aguilar Garcia, Humberto Aguilar Garcia, Rogelio Aguilar Garcia, Rosalinda Munoz, Jose Angel Aguilar Garcia, Reymundo Aguilar Garcia, Juan Manuel Aguilar Garcia, Francisco Aguilar Garcia, and Rene Aguilar Garcia. She also leaves her 45 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Rosario Aguilar Medina. A Catholic Blessing and rosary will take place on Tuesday, January 24th at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz beginning at 6 p.m. Fr. Efrain Medina of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church will officiate. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral chapel on Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m. Mrs. Garcia Rodela will be laid to rest in her hometown of Guadalupe Victoria in Durango, beside her mother, Francisca Garcia Rodela.
