Carol F. (Keenan) Castle, born in Cheyenne Wyoming on February 13, 1935, passed away on August 17, 2011. She moved with her parents and siblings to several locations in Wyoming and Nevada. The Keenan family finally settled in Sacramento California in 1949. She graduated from St. Francis High School and attended Sacramento City College in Sacramento. She was the beloved wife of Ronald A. Castle, mother of Mary Katherine Cain (Bill), step mother to Rhonda Castle and Wayne Castle. She was the loving and supportive sister to William J. Keenan, M.D. (Debby) and Susan E. (Keenan) Cucchi (Gene). She was the loving first child of Dunstan and Edith Keenan who predeceased her. Carol was the grandmother of Eric Davila, Susana Davila, Rebecca Davila-Simmons (Jarrod), Angelica Davila and Keenan Cain and step-grandmother to Shaun Hanna. She was the great grandmother of 3 beautiful girls and beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Carol had an impressive 40 year banking career and retired from Crocker National Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank. Her business success was built on personal relationships and protecting the well-being of others. Carol and Ron moved to Rio Del Mar in 1977 and felt blessed to have chosen to live in such a beautiful location. During her retirement Carol loved traveling with Ron and volunteering in her community. She was an active member of the Watsonville Women's Club, Watsonville Women's Club Foundation, Soroptimist International of Watsonville, St. Josephs' Catholic Church ICF, and was an active participant in many other Parrish activities including the Christmas Giving Tree. She was a particular advocate of scholarships to youth in the community and worked on several committees supporting and awarding scholarships. Carol had a caring and giving spirit who believed in the love of God and the good in the human spirit. She was skilled at the art of needlepoint and cooking. Many received and proudly display her beautiful needlework and enjoyed her Christmas Persimmon Puddings and jams. Carol was also dedicated to tracing the family genealogy and made sure that all generations had copies of our history. Her family and many friends will miss her ready smile and determined love. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave, Capitola) on August 20, 2011 at 9:30AM. You are invited to attend a reception in the church hall immediately following the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the Cabrillo Scholarship Foundation, 6500 Soqual Dr., Aptos, CA 95003 or St. Joseph ICF Perlino Scholarship Fund, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, CA 95010.
