Catherine Sexton Flanagan

Catherine S. Flanagan Services will be Tuesday for Catherine "Katie" Flanagan who passed away on March 28, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was 90. Katie was born on January 15, 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Henry Laney and Anita Lemoine Laney. She grew up in New Orleans. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor she was married to Raymond Joseph Flanagan and the couple moved to San Francisco. She lived many years in the San Francisco Bay Area but over the course of that time migrated down the peninsula finally settling in Santa Cruz. Katie was well loved by her family and was affectionately known as "Grandma Katie" by all who knew her. She was very devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to gamble. She was active in various senior's groups and was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Flanagan of Santa Cruz; two sons, Raymond J. Flanagan of Redwood City and Michael P. Flanagan of Texas; She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Flanagan in 1989 and her daughter, Deborah Zeagas in 2001. Services will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at 10:00 am. A visitation will be held at Pacific Gardens Chapel on Sunday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 2271 7th Ave., Santa Cruz, CA.
