Born in Durango, Mexico, Armando has resided in Santa Cruz County for 44 years. He worked for the Scotts Valley Unified School District for 20 years and retired in 2008. Armando lived his life as a loving husband, adoring son, devoted brother, patient father, dedicated worker and a loyal and trusted friend. Armando was also an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, Cabrillo Seahawks and San Lorenzo Valley Cougars. He was a dedicated father who attended St. John's Catholic Church in Felton with his family and later attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Santa Cruz. Time spent with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren, was of paramount importance in his life. Armando came to America as a Mexican immigrant with not much more than the clothes on his back. He leaves us as a home owning American Citizen and patriarch of a large, close knit, successful American Family. that is his story and it will be his legacy. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lourdes Aguilar of Ben Lomond, his sons and daughters in-law, William and Lisa Aguilar of Aptos, Elvis and Jamie Aguilar of Livermore, Armando Jr. and Allison Aguilar of Los Banos. He also leaves his daughter and son in- law, Faith and Jordan Bergstrom of Scots Valley, his loving grandchildren: Amanda, Ryan, Alex, Andrew, Trevor, Aaron, Kaitlyn, Katie, Sydney, and Khloe; along with five sisters residing in Mexico and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Armando was preceded in death by his parents, Lucio and Catalina Aguilar; his brother, Isidro Aguilar; and his best friend and mother in-law Noemi "Mama Memi" Lombera. Friends may pay their respects at a viewing on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The recitation of the rosary will begin that evening at 6 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave. Capitola, CA.) beginning at 10 O'clock a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
