Francisco H Lopez

Francisco Lopez passed away peacefully at Dominican Hospital with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, he was 76 years old. Francisco worked as a Edgerman for Big Creek Lumber Company for 34 years. He enjoyed golfing and played consistently on courses that ranged from Santa Cruz to the Monterey Bay Area - always looking for a good deal. In his younger days, he enjoyed ocean fishing, managing a hardball league and going to the Flea Market. Francisco was in a select class of professional sports fans; rooting for the Giants and the Dodgers. He also enjoyed soccer games, boxing matches and especially seeing them live in Las Vegas, NV. Francisco had a love for travel. He and his family enjoyed many trips together, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Las Vegas, Mexico and most recently vacationing with his family in Hawaii celebrating his granddaughter's high school graduation. When Francisco was not trying to find a new Casino to visit, he enjoyed gardening, playing "mechanic" on his old Mustangs and many other household projects that always kept him busy. On his spare time he loved watching Americas Funniest Home Videos and Ridiculousness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nora, his son Javi, his daughter Nora, his brother Antonio and his granddaughter Kylee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather that leaves behind many great friends, compadres, godchildren and his beloved companions Lulu and Charlie. The rosary will be recited Thursday evening August 4, 2016 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel at 6 p.m. The mass will be held on Friday morning August 5th, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church (515 Frederick Street in Santa Cruz). A celebration for "Panchito" to follow immediately after at the Elks Lodge (150 Jewel St., Santa Cruz, CA). In honor of his love for life the family asks you to please dress in white, a light color or your favorite sports attire. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sawney, Dr. Raffo, Dr. Gill, Dr. Jamieson, Dr. Shafi, the staff at Satelilte Dialysis and the various doctor's, nurses and specialists who assisted with his care during his final days. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Operation Smile (for cleft lip repair).
