Charlotte Elizabeth Moton
December 1st, 1921 - July 18th, 2015
Charlotte E. Moton, passed away July 18, 2015 while living with her daughter Denise in her Bakersfield home. She was 94 years old. She was born in Massechusetts on December 1, 1921, the youngest of six children born to William Lamb and Catharyn Wyatt Lamb. As a child, growing up in Massechusetts, it meant a mile long walk in the snow to get to school everyday. She attended St. Mary's High School and Framingham where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in education. She met Ronald Moton while he was serving in the U.S. Army, they wed in 1945 hence beginning her travels. Moving every three years, beginning in Japan where Karen was born. Then to Texas where Kathy was born, followed by New Jersey, a trip to Rome back to the U.S, settling in Fairfield where Denise was born. And finally moving to Santa Cruz. While living in Santa Cruz, Charlotte became a Girl Scout leader, joined the Parents Club and through Holy Cross Church became a member of the Young Ladies Institute (Y.L.I.). Working in various positions within the organization, she ultimately became Grand President. During her year long presidency she visited every institute in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii, a very admirable accomplishment. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Haschke and her husband, Dieter and their sons, Brandon and Bryon; daughter, Kathy Yarborough and her son, Jarrod and his wife Valerie, their children, Amber and John, son, Ron and his wife Marta and daughter, Kristina and her children, Kylie and twins, Andrew and Jake; daughter, Denise Keller and her husband, Dean and their daughter, Kelly. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Moton in 2012. A visitation will be held for family and friends at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA on Sunday July 26, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 515 Frederick St., Santa Cruz, CA on Monday July 27, 2015 at 10:00 am. A private cremation and inurnment will follow. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all of their friends who kept Charlotte in their prayers, believing those prayers aided her in "Going Home".
