Jeanne Sutherland Lyons died June 27, 2011 in Santa Cruz, California. She was 88 years old. Born in Alameda, Jeanne was a long time resident of San Francisco and Sonoma, California. She was a woman with a strong commitment to her community. Her long term service as a volunteer in hospital administration included consumer advocacy, bioethics, and the creation of one of the first hospice programs in San Francisco. She is survived by her sons Geoffrey Lyons of Santa Cruz, Roby Lyons of San Luis Obispo, and her brother Robert Sutherland of Walnut Creek. She was predeceased by her husband Franklyn H. "Jeff" Lyons and her daughter Katherine Lyons. Her love of music and beautiful voice will be missed by many. Memorial: Saturday July 9, 2011. 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 275 East Spain St., Sonoma. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local hospice.
