Patricia Ann Stott

A recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Santa Cruz on Thursday and Friday, January 5-6, 2017, for Patricia Stott who passed away peacefully at home, from brain cancer, on the 1st of December, just before the sunrise. Born April 26, 1939, Pat was the oldest child of Ann and Sheldon Bell. She was raised in Stockton and Tracy, CA, and moved to Oakland beginning her sophomore year at Holy Names High School. She went on to graduate from St. Joseph's College of Nursing, San Francisco in 1962 and later received her BSN from Holy Names University in Oakland. St. Theresa's parish in Oakland is where she married John Michael Stott in April of 1964. They were married for 48 years, until his passing in 2012. Both having retired earlier, they were able to enjoy traveling, golf, friends, good food and most of all family in their short "golden years". Pat and Mike permanently moved to Santa Cruz in 2009. Working as a nurse for more than 30 years, primarily at Providence in Oakland, Pat retired from nursing in the late 90's. She loved being active including exercise and hiking adventures. She enjoyed theater, concerts, grandchildren's sporting games and activities, playing bridge and other games – especially Sudoku and crossword puzzles. She was part of the board for the Live Oak Senior Center and was very involved with and had an affinity for the Sisters of the Holy Names, volunteering at the Villa retreat center and chapel. Pat is survived by her four children, daughter and favorite son-in-law Mary and Roger Kuhl of Eugene, OR; her sons and daughters-in-law; John and Jeannie Stott of San Leandro, CA, Dan and Jane Stott of Milan, OH, and Matthew and Joanna Stott of Novato, CA. She also leaves her nine beloved grandchildren Chris, Kevin, Emily, Ryan, Claire, Elle, Daniel, Nate and Michael. Pat leaves behind her sister and best friend, Peggy Kane of Missoula, MT. In addition, many cousins, nephews and nieces, in-laws, and lifetime friends will miss her dearly. The Rosary will be said at Villa Maria Del Mar Chapel, East Cliff and 19th Ave., January 5, 2017, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 515 Frederick St. in Santa Cruz, beginning at 10:00 a.m. the next day.
